Mommy Moments with Sasha Marina is BrownStyle Magazine‘s new column that encourages moms to practice mindfulness and create a soft life that speaks to their souls. From adventurous family trips to products that make parenting a little easier, learn how the mother-of-two is navigating motherhood one day at a time.
How can an infant under 12 months instinctively know that they do not like a certain bottle or refuse to drink from a bottle altogether? It’s bewildering. I can come up with all sorts of excuses, or ideas, but the truth is beyond me.
As adults we know what we like, don’t like, and why. For infants, the reasons behind their dislikes remain a mystery.
I’ve learned many lessons being a mom, but nothing prepares you for the personality your child will assume. External factors can sometimes affect behavior, but personality is part of DNA. Of course, this is just my opinion. (While I’m at it, maybe I should blame it on the horoscopes, too.)
My Experience Breastfeeding
My second baby boy, Massimo, has been exclusively breastfed since the day he was born. This is not at all to brag. In fact, it’s the most difficult thing I had to do as a mother.
To breastfeed on demand takes strength. It takes all your brain power, your ambition, and of course your body. This is why for the past 10 months; I’ve been on the search for a good bottle that my son would take without putting up a fight.
Emulait: My Review
Two weeks ago, I received a package from Emulait, a world-first biomimetic feeding system designed to mimic the breastfeeding experience.
Simply put, it is one of the few baby bottles in the US Market that resembles a natural breast to offer a seamless transition between breastfeeding and bottle-feeding.
I received the Starter’s Kit, which consists of an anatomy bottle that mimics the shape of a real breast, a classic bottle designed to fit into car cup holders, 2 custom nipples, 3 flow controls, 1 cleaning brush, and a feeding consultation.
At first sight, Massimo was attracted to the bottle shape and neutral color. He instantly latched on. The great thing about the nipples is that you choose the shape and size to resemble your natural look. It makes brilliant sense! I was amazed by his reaction. It was exactly what I had envisioned.
Now for my crunchy momma (a mother or female caregiver who practices a natural lifestyle and incorporates it into her parenting), I’m happy to say that the bottles are BPA-free, phthalate-free, and non-toxic Tritan. The silicone in this product is also premium medical-grade and FDA-approved.
As a bonus, the bottles are dishwasher safe and easy to clean thanks to the cleaning brush that’s designed specifically for the bottle.
I highly recommend! It is also worth noting that Emulait also has pacifiers designed with an ergonomic shape for dental health. They come in 2 neutral colors and 2 sizes. To shop the brand on Amazon, click here.
Let’s Talk…
I’m curious to know if you or anyone you know have gone through something similar while breastfeeding an infant. Let’s discuss.
What solutions did you come up with? Do you think the Emulait baby bottle would’ve or could’ve helped your baby?
