Lyric Chanel Anderson isn’t just following in the footsteps of her famous parents—she’s paving her own way to success! With a degree in English (communications concentration) and a law degree in progress, Anderson already has a lot on her plate. However, she still manages to make time to advocate for women in sports and have a successful career in modeling and acting.

In BET’s drama series, Haus of Vicious, Anderson plays the role of Tia— a walking web of lies at the center of the high-stakes fashion world. “Portraying Tia requires tapping into deep emotional layers, which can be both rewarding and draining,” she tells BrownStyle Magazine exclusively.

Unlike her character, Anderson was delightful when we caught up with the actress to talk about work, self-care, and wellness. Below, learn how she’s balancing studying sessions and being in the spotlight. Plus, find out the heartwarming reason why she wants to be a sports attorney.

Balancing The Spotlight & Study Sessions

Playing a character as layered as Tia isn’t just about learning lines—it’s about mental and emotional stamina. “Losing my grandmother at a pivotal age taught me a pain I had never experienced,” she explains. “Learning to move forward without her gave me strength, and I use that emotional journey in my craft.”

To maintain a work-life balance, Anderson says she turns to intentionality to keep her peace. “I prioritize self-care through mindfulness and intentional routines like carving out time for rest, eating nourishing meals, staying hydrated, and praying.”

When she needs a full recharge, Anderson says that sleep is her favorite form of self-care. “Your body can’t function properly without rest. I love to get under the covers and have a day of doing nothing but sleeping,” she tells us.

Her biggest self-care flex? Learning to say no. “I had to unplug from everyone else’s areas of concern to focus on my list of priorities. It saves me from energy depletion,” she admits.

Style & Beauty

When she’s not walking the runway for designers or in front of the camera, Anderson enjoys dressing in comfy clothes that compliments her soft life. “In my downtime, my style varies. Sometimes I’m whimsical and refined with an edgy touch, and other times I gravitate more to casual, trendy streetwear and athleisure.”

Anderson keeps her skin youthful and glowing with Neutrogena’s Hydroboost Moisturizer (available on Amazon). “Long set hours and heavy makeup can wear your skin barrier down, so staying hydrated is key,” she shares with a smile.

The Ultimate Luxury: Personal Growth

For the actress, true luxury is about living life to the fullest and being self-aware. She explains, “Opulence is found in creating memories, growing as a person, and having deep, meaningful relationships with family!”

Anderson’s biggest investment in herself has been therapy. “Therapy isn’t taboo. Having a trusted professional in a nonjudgmental space has helped me gain clarity,” she openly expresses. “It’s helped me develop healthier ways of communication and recognize detrimental patterns.”

Faith, Family, And Focus

As the daughter of retired NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson and entertainment powerhouse Tami Roman, Anderson grew up at the intersection of sports and Hollywood.

Anderson credits her mom with playing a huge role in keeping her grounded. “She’s my go-to acting coach and advisor. She’s been in the game for 28+ years and always reminds me that success isn’t overnight—it takes hustle, tenacity, and constant learning,” she shares with pride.

Growing up in the worlds of entertainment and sports gives the go-getter an edge when it comes to work ethics. “Entertainment is about collaboration and creativity, while sports teaches me discipline and teamwork,” she explains before adding that faith is her compass. “I don’t move unless I hear a word from God. Prayer is a huge part of my life, and I turn to Him for ALL things.”

Balancing acting, law school, and her future aspirations is no easy feat, but Anderson credits her upbringing and faith for her laser focus. “I grew up in a French school where we were taught organization and discipline early on. Motivation has its challenges, but I remind myself that faith without work is dead. What’s meant for me will come in God’s timing.”

Championing Athletes On And Off The Court

After seeing the triumphs and struggles of the sports industry through her father and sister (Jazz Anderson), Anderson is passionate about advocating for athletes, which is why she plans to become an attorney. “I want to fight for equal pay, representation, and protecting athletes’ rights as they navigate the business side of sports.”

Her plan? Combining her legal expertise with her industry experience. “I hope to help artists and athletes navigate contracts, intellectual property rights, and negotiations in a way that protects their vision and interests.”

So, what’s next for the multi-faceted woman on the move? The actress tells us, “I was on the writing team for Haus of Vicious this season, which allowed me to experience that side of the industry. Next, I’m writing a holiday movie loosely based on my personal life. It’s about standing on your convictions despite challenges. I think the message will resonate with people!”
