Teaching a baby to embrace new flavors can feel like flipping a coin– sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. For me, the journey with my youngest son, Massimo, who is a little over a year old, has been a flavorful adventure.
Starting Small: The Early Days

By the time Massi was six months old, he had a fair number of teeth, which made introducing solids easier. We started with soft foods like scrambled eggs, avocado, and sweet potato bites. I even attempted those beautiful Instagram mommy recipes, but honestly, they were way too time-consuming!
Massi was open to eating, but the flavors seemingly didn’t excite him. Enter fruit and veggie pouches. While exploring his flavor choices, I quickly learned he leaned toward plain applesauce and away from overly sweet fruits. Store-bought baby snacks? Total waste!
As his teeth came in, I started sharing food from my plate, avoiding heavily seasoned or salted dishes. To my surprise, he enjoyed these meals much more.
A Game-Changer: Discovering Square Baby

Having a picky eater can be stressful, especially when they’re content to nurse on demand. A month ago, I discovered Square Baby— a meal system designed for little ones and the customizable meal plans have been a lifesaver!
Square Baby’s customizable meal plans made the process so simple. Here’s how it works:
- ✨ Choose Your Subscription: Decide how many meals you’d like per order.
- ✨ Select the ABC Meal System: Pick from three categories:
- – Type A Meals: Yogurt Proteins
- – Type B Meals: Plant Proteins
- – Type C Meals: Animal Proteins (think chicken, bone broth, and eggs).
With a better understanding of Massi’s preferences, I chose flavors like Apple Chicken Curry, Apple Rosemary Lentils, Mango Coconut Chicken, and Harvest Feast. At first, he was curious – his little lips smacked together as he figured out what he was eating. Spoonful by spoonful (and a few airplane moves later), he became more comfortable with the meals.
Why Square Baby Works for Us
Square Baby has been a game-changer for our family. It’s affordable, organic, and saves so much prep time. Its meals are nutrient-dense and delivered frozen in sustainable packaging – no overthinking required!
I’m grateful for this nutritious alternative, especially as we try to instill diverse eating habits in Massimo early on.
