A Vibe: Aryeè The Gem Inspires Self-Care & Personal Growth With Her Soulful Soundtracks

Women of Color (WOC) have a natural flava that’s sweeter than any candy in the world! We add the spice, the sugar, and the extra pizazz to life. We are THE mood board. “A Vibe” is a series by BrownStyle Magazine that highlights some of the culture’s most fascinating people. If you get it, you get it.

Aryeè The Gem is not just a singer— she’s a vibe. Hailing from the heartlands of Milwaukee, WI, and nurtured in the soulful embrace of Mobile, AL, Aryeè has emerged as a musical force to be reckoned with thanks to her soulful sounds that instantly create a mood whenever you press play.

“Frequency is one of the most valuable currencies that we have. And with the frequency that I’m putting out, I want it to be as soul-nourishing as it possibly can be,” Aryeè tells BrownStyle Magazine exclusively about her music aesthetic. “I am here to add value to melanated beings in the way that we look at ourselves, and the state of music.”

Since a young age, Aryeè’s existence has been a harmonious fusion of life and sound. Her profound connection to music was established as she found herself participating in choirs, from her formative years through her collegiate endeavors.

Much like her name suggests, she is a gem that deserves the spotlight. The singer-songwriter’s musical ancestry is rich and diverse, echoing the soulful cadences of Neo-Soul and R&B. She pays homage to the likes of legends such as Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Tina Marie, Vivian Green, Alicia Keys, and Brandy, whose resonance continues to influence her craft.

“Growing up on Neo-Soul music, the main thing that stuck with me was that people were speaking from a real, genuine place,” she explains. “I feel like R&B is all about love and expressing love and I just wanted to amplify that.”

With every note (and affirmation), Aryeè poetically weaves a tapestry of emotions, embracing the essence of her musical heritage while forging a unique path of her own. Recently, we were introduced to the songbird’s latest song Mirror, which we immediately added to our Soulful Sounds rotation on Spotify.

“I was inspired to write this song because there were moments in my life when I was surrounded by people who didn’t always reflect the highest version of myself,” Aryeè admits. “They made me feel as if I’m not going to get to the next level. I had to basically cut everyone off and start over.”

Right before Aryeè made her transition from Mobile, AL to Atlanta to pursue music full-time, she took a couple of months to focus on her personal growth. To cultivate new energy around her, she spent hours working out in the gym, building her wellness routine, and dedicating time to pouring into the best version of herself.

“I wanted my inner world to reflect my outer world, and I understood that the work started with me,” the singer explains.

One of the ways that Aryeè works on her inner self is by practicing Reiki, an ancient Japanese healing modality where “life force energy” flows through the body with the intention of reducing stress and promoting healing.

“If I’m feeling good, if I’m feeling confident, if I am in my knowing, then everything around me will reflect that,” the entertainer joyfully shares about the importance of her wellness routine. “Every day, I take at least 10 minutes of intentional silence and meditation. And I do Reiki on myself, before writing at least 10 things that I’m grateful for every single day.”

“Every day, I take at least 10 minutes of intentional silence and meditation.

In addition to her Reiki practice, Aryeè also enjoys going outside and standing in the sun. “If I can get some sun in, I just feel rejuvenated. The warmth of the sun can just brighten up your mood,” she adds.

When Aryeè is not in the studio, she is living her Soulful Soft Life by spending intentional time alone. “I really value solitude, especially having to be out in the world and immersed in social settings often. Finding time alone is one of the most valuable things that I have,” she concludes.
