This Week’s Small Business Spotlight: Blessed Bananas
Location: St. Cloud, FL
The Brand Story
When Nadine Ramos founded Blessed Bananas, it was out of pure necessity. After experiencing the tragic loss of her mother in the late 90s, the self-made entrepreneur turned to the hair industry as a way to not only find peace but also help her provide for her little sister Taina Del Rio. Her passion for hair ultimately led her to create a clean and luxurious line of hair products that harness the power of bananas.
“We provide affordable hair care that offers immediate and professional results from scalp to strand,” Ramos tells BrownStyle Magazine exclusively.
Since its launch, the self-funded brand has become a multi-million-dollar enterprise cherished by salon professionals nationwide. Taina, who is a registered nurse and now a full-time VP of Blessed Bananas, works closely with her sister to create clean and safe products that are perfect for all hair types.
Blessed Banana’s Bestselling Item
Crown of Glory Hair & Scalp Serum
$14.99
Crafted for all hair types, this hair & scalp bonding serum is formulated with only three ingredients: PURE banana oil, coconut oil & vitamin E. Fragrance and chemical-free, this blend is gentle enough for daily use.
What Makes Blessed Bananas A Small Business To Shop
For centuries the banana peel has been used in different cultures to treat various scalp/skin ailments. This is because banana contains silica, a mineral element that’s absorbed by the body to produce collagen (the building block of bouncy and healthy hair).
“We have finally mastered the art of mass extraction of banana oil in its purest form,” says Ramos about the haircare brand that caters to every hair type. “One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure, which is why we partnered with Nature’s Table to upcycle their banana peels,” she adds.
What’s Next For Blessed Bananas
The sky is the limit for this sister duo, who have plans to trailblaze the hair industry. “We have three new product formulations in the works to expand our line and a 360-degree marketing campaign to support this launch,” Nadine shares about their expansion plans.
