I Tried Olay’s New $10 Cleansing Melts— Here’s My Honest Thoughts!

I’m always on the hunt for the right skincare products to keep my skin healthy and looking its best. Recently, BrownStyle Magazine was invited to the launch event for Olay’s brand-new Cleansing Melts, and I was instantly intrigued by the innovative product that was formulated for all skin types and featured skin-boosting ingredients. 

Could it be time to swap out my old daily cleanser for something new? Below, read about my experience with the Olay Cleansing Melts. 

What Is An Olay Cleansing Melt? 

At the launch event, we learned that the cleansing melts are small cloth squares activated in water within 3 seconds. When activated, the small squares create a soft, thick lather with microbubbles designed to clean, tone, and brighten your skin. (FYI: The cleansers come in vitamin C, retinol, and hyaluronic acid formulas to work with and treat different skin types.)

About My Skin

Going out during the summertime means more makeup, more oily skin, and of course, more sweat. As someone with combination skin, I find my skin getting oily around my nose and forehead. That’s exactly why at the end of the night, I need the perfect products to clean and refresh my skin. 

It wasn’t until I was introduced to tea tree oil that I finally found my holy grail. At first, I used a tea tree toner that helped keep my skin clean and hydrated, but once I found an astringent that also contained tea tree oil, it took my skin to the next level.

My daily skin routine used to consist solely of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser, St. Ives DeepCleanse 3-in-1 Daily Astringent, Clinique Moisture Surge Sheer Hydrator Face Moisturizer with SPF, and my all-time moisturizer, Ponds. I’m not usually one to veer away from my regular skin routine, but the decision was easy once I experimented with Olay’s Vitamin C Cleansing Melts.

The Results: Fresh Face And Bright Skin

After testing out the brand’s new Vitamin C melting cleanser, I fell in love with how gentle it felt on my skin. The subtle citrus aroma also added just the right amount of sweetness to my routine.

After about two months of using the cleansing melts, I can confidently say that I enjoy this new method of cleansing my face. My skin seems to happily absorb the 8 simple ingredients, which helps keep my face feeling refreshed and revitalized. 

I also love the glassy look that my skin gives when I follow up with my favorite moisturizer. The brightness from the Vitamin C and the additional hydration, provided by my face moisturizer, makes every hour a golden hour for me.

If you’re planning a short weekend trip, the Cleansing Melts might be your best skincare travel decision yet. When I’m going away for a couple of days, I like to throw a couple of the cleansing squares in a plastic bag. I never have to worry about if they might get ruined or if I packed enough cleanser for my trip because each square dissolves into the perfect amount of lather.
