Massages aren’t just a luxury or something you do for fun. They’re crucial for living a soft life. Allow me to explain…
I’ve been a licensed clinical massage therapist for eight great years, and during this time, I’ve worked in various massage settings, including spas and corporate wellness events. I’ve even offered mobile massage services.

Through the years, I’ve seen firsthand just how much people love getting massages. I’ve even worked at conferences where people line up like it’s Black Friday for a 5-minute massage! They tell us how much they needed this escape from the daily grind of travel or work stress. Some even show up bright and early to snag that first massage slot.
I learned during these moments that when you ask these same people how often they schedule a full-table massage, it’s like recalling a distant memory. It’s a rare occurrence, not a regular part of their wellness routine. And that got me thinking…
People seem to clearly understand the benefits of massages, like stress relief, tension release, and better sleep. Yet, there’s this disconnect in prioritizing massages as a consistent part of self-care.
The Benefits Of Regular Massages
It starts with the mind-body connection.
Have you ever had a tense situation give you a headache, or have you been so nervous your stomach feels like it’s in knots? Our bodies remember these things, sometimes for years, until a massage gives us that release.
Often, when I ask people where they would like me to focus, they express that they carry their stress on their shoulders. Sometimes, we don’t even realize how much we are keeping inside.
I’ve had clients shed tears on my table, releasing pent-up emotions. I’ve witnessed miracles, like helping someone breathe easier through massage therapy. Creating a space for emotional and physical healing is all a part of the massage experience.

My regular massage clients notice the difference. They come back feeling less tight, moving through their daily routines with more ease. (Note: It’s important to stretch and do your home care to maintain post-massage results.)

Post-Massage Results
Post-massage results can vary, but you should always feel relaxed after your experience. You might even feel a bit sleepy after a relaxing massage!
Some soreness is normal, akin to a good workout. But if it feels like a truck hit you, that’s a red flag. Always advocate for yourself in the massage. If it’s too much pressure, let your therapist know. Don’t let anyone bully you into receiving a service THEY think you should receive. Massage is all about consent. Proper technique and hydration can ease any soreness.
The Takeaway
Massages shouldn’t be a once-in-a-blue-moon treat. It should be something you aim for at least once a month. The more regular, the better.
Think of massages as an investment in your well-being, not just a splurge. Remember, you can’t have a soft life with hard shoulders.
Here’s to shifting mindsets about massages from luxury to essential soft life enhancers!
